A THIEF AMONG US

Be aware.  There's a thief among us... and not your ordinary thief, at that.

It was a cool day, the sun was shinning and a light breeze lifted the manes while heads bent to the new grass, nibbling.  Kimmy and Courtney decided to groom and tack the horses.

Kimmy was the first to bring to my attention that the bridle with Abby's name tag on it, was not Abby's bridle.  I readily agreed. This one was as old as the hills and dry rotted.

Meanwhile, Greg and Courtney where struggling to fit Tokalah's bridle over his ears.

It wouldn't fit. I went over to assist, but there was no room for adjustment.  After closer inspection, not only was the bridle too small, but the reins didn't match it either. In fact, it wasn't Tokalah's bridle at all. It too, had been swapped out with another.

Upon inspecting the remainder of the tack, we also discovered other items that were swapped out as well.

Tokalah's bridle.

Now, what really makes our thief unique is the name tags.  Rather than just steal the bridles, our thief took the time to switch the name tags from the original bridles to the replacements.  This however, was a dead giveaway to the identity of our thief.  Mystery solved.

And as it turned out, the girls are excited that they have an excuse to spend the money that is burning holes in their pockets.  A shopping spree to buy new tack is in the works.

As for the rest of you... be aware. There is still a thief among us...

UPDATE: Though we were already aware of the identity of our thief, with the help of Kimmy and Kelly and several photographs that were taken over the winter, we were able to pinpoint the time in which our thief had swapped our tack.  Kimmy, especially, enjoyed playing detective. Good job.
